It is the ketogenic or keto diet. Now, it is getting a ton of attention, but it has been around beginning in the 1920s and originally developed as a treatment for those with epileptic seizures.
This keto diet has re-surfaced again as a quite current method weight-loss and is gaining power in the field of medicine as a possible therapy for several types of cancer. This diet is high fat (up to 80% of daily caloric take), protein in moderation (up to 35% of calories) and very little carbohydrates (less than 5%). To put this in a better view, if you are eating 2000 calories each day, that is just 25 grams of carbs, and that equals to what you would find in a granola bar.

She doesn’t endorse this diet for anyone looking to lose weight (or a maintenance plan for long-term). And this is because of its lack of any variety. Also, many foods that are recommended to increase longevity, such as pulses, whole grains vegetables that are roots are banned from this plan.
But it does not cut out beneficial stuff. Everyone can still enjoy vegetables such as cabbage, cauliflower, avocado, broccoli, asparagus and Brussels sprouts.
